ASIA INFRASTRUCTURE  2018- THE GATEWAY TO A MARKET WORTH OVER RM 300 BILLION

Hosted by the Sarawak State Government, the 3rd Edition of Asia Infrastructure – the International Infrastructure Development Exhibition & Conference is to be held at the Borneo Convention Centre, Kuching, Malaysia from 23-25 January 2018. This event comes at an opportune time as Sarawak continues with its massive development plans lead by the SCORE initiatives which have attracted top international investors. In addition, the RM 29 billion Pan Borneo Highway construction will bring in huge opportunities to infrastructure players including consultants, contractors, and machinery and equipment suppliers.

As countries across Asia experience strong economic growth in recent years, enormous pressure is put on its transport, housing & industrial capacity, energy, water/sewerage, waste management and communications infrastructure. As such, infrastructure development is now a priority for countries to ensure continued development, improve competitiveness and reduce poverty in the rural communities.
Following the great success of the second edition of Asia Infrastructure in 2015, this third edition in the series provides companies in Sarawak’s supply chain such as transport, construction, utilities and communications infrastructure sector with unique opportunities to showcase their capabilities to a wide audience.

Sarawak’s economy is projected to grow at 6.5 per cent per year to achieve a high-income status by the year 2030. With this mindset, Sarawak is an ideal venue for this international event as the State Government has embarked upon many infrastructure development projects which will transform the economy and act as the catalyst for its modernisation programme in the digital age.

The Sarawak Pan-Borneo Highway spanning 1,090 km is expected to be completed in 2021, while the construction work on the 706-km highway from Sindumin to Tawau commenced in 2016 with an estimated cost of RM12.8 billion. This will generate a massive demand for construction equipment, road building machinery, lighting, signages, bridge building technology, surveying and fencing, security, consultancy services among others.

It will also support the Government’s initiative on the Sarawak Corridor on Renewable Energy which will transform its economy into a developed State by 2020. Over RM300 billion worth of potential investments is expected under this initiative up till 2030. Be part of the growth by joining Asia Infrastructure 2018!
